Rental Rates and Seasons

The rental season runs from May through September. Rates range from $500 to $675 per week, with discounts for May and September rentals. These rates apply to up to 5 persons with an additional $70 for a 6th person. There is a 6% Michigan Rental Tax.

Accommodation Details

Reed resort has 5 cottages, each with 2 bedrooms/1 bath, sleeping up to 6. Cottages are fully-housekeeping, including cooking utensils, full-sized refrigerators and range, and microwaves. Cottages have gas or electric heating units. Blankets and pillows are provided. Please bring linens and towels. Bathrooms have hot water and showers. Each unit has a TV with basic cable hook-up (June through August only).

An aluminum boat goes with each cottage. A dock and boat buoys are available. Outdoor charcoal grills, two fire pits (with free firewood), picnic tables and some lawn/deck chairs are provided.

No pets. Smoking is allowed, but only outside cabins. The house is not handicapped accessible.

Surroundings

The 5 cottages are laid out on 250 feet of lake frontage with a nice beach area. The lake bottom is sandy and the water is shallow well out into the lake. Water recreation includes swimming, fishing, and water skiing. Manistee is located only 17 miles to the south and Traverse City is 50 miles north. Lake Michigan is 7 miles away. Bear Lake has a nice 18 hole golf course, and several additional ones are located within 25 mile radius. Horse back riding is available less than a mile away and canoeing is within about 20 miles.

Bear Lake covers 1700 acres and has a water depth of 25 feet. Motors are allowed. Fish include perch, bluegill, bass, and walleye.
