Many of the businesses now are antique shops. The city leaders gather at Desoto Drugs to have lunch and chat, and old men sit on the town benches feeding the pigeons. Weeping willows trail in Lake Desoto. |

Fourth of July finds everyone sitting around Lake Desoto watching the reflections of the fireworks in its smooth black waters and occasionally a glitter of eyes on the side tells us that the gators are watching too. |
